Retail Sales Increase in May, April Revised Higher

Washington, DC, June 12, 2014 — U.S. retail sales rose 0.3% in May and April’s initial estimate was revised higher, according to the Commerce Department.

The increase in sales was due mostly to higher sales of autos, building materials and garden supplies.

April’s sales were revised from an initial estimate of a 0.1% increase to a gain of 0.5%.
