NALFA Launching Initiative to Define Wood-Based Hybrid Flooring

Springfield, MA, November 2, 2026—NALFA is launching an initiative to define and develop performance standards for wood-based hybrid flooring, an emerging category in the hard surface flooring market. The initiative builds on NALFA’s established expertise in flooring performance standards and product certification.

As manufacturers combine evolving material technologies to deliver new levels of durability, water resistance and overall performance, the industry has yet to establish consistent terminology or agreed-upon benchmarks for evaluating wood-based hybrid flooring products. NALFA aims to address that gap by defining the category, establishing appropriate testing methodologies, and developing measurable performance requirements.

NALFA welcomes input from manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, installers, testing laboratories, and other industry stakeholders as the initiative develops.
