Fed Raises Interest Rate A Quarter Point, First Increase Since 2023

Washington, DC, September 17, 2026—The Federal Reserve unanimously voted to raise the interest rate a quarter point to the 3.75% to 4% range, the first increase since July 2023.

The move was made to fight inflation, and the Fed indicated that another increase will likely come before the year’s end.
