Personal Spending Up, Incomes Plunge

Washington, DC, March 1, 2013 — Personal spending rose 0.2% in January, although incomes fell in one month by the most in 20 years, the Commerce Department said.

The spending increase followed a 0.1% gain in December.

Incomes plunged 3.6%, the largest decrease since January 1993.
