Wholesaler Sales Rose 2.5% in May

Washington, DC, July 11, 2018-May 2018 sales of merchant wholesalers were $509.0 billion, up 2.5% from the revised April level and were up 11.8% from the May 2017 level, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The March 2018 to April 2018 percent change was revised from the preliminary estimate of up 0.8% to up 1.4%.

Total inventories of merchant wholesalers were $633.5 billion at the end of May, up 0.6% from the revised April level. Total inventories were up 5.9% from the revised May 2017 level. The April 2018 to May 2018 percent change was revised from the advance estimate of up 0.5% to up 0.6%.

The May inventories/sales ratio for merchant wholesalers was 1.24. The May 2017 ratio was 1.31.
