Carpet One to Hold Retail Sales Convention
Manchester, NH, February 15, 2006--Carpet One will hold the first-ever Retail Sales Professional (RSP) Convention this month in conjunction with its bi-annual member convention, to be held in Anaheim, California. The RSP Convention will benefit both sales professionals and store owners; sales professionals will get nearly 11 hours of sales training and product knowledge from industry leaders and receive valuable takeaways to share with their peers. Store owners will benefit from the improved performance and dedication of their staff. David Hendler, vice president of retail for Carpet One says, “We expect our retail sales teams will leave the RSP Convention more knowledgeable, better trained and enthused with a positive sense of engagement. This is the perfect opportunity for them to experience the power of the Carpet One brand in conjunction with their owners.” Carpet One expects more than 150 sales professionals to attend the convention on February 22–24, 2006. Some Carpet One members have registered as many as four sales professionals for the meeting. The RSP Convention will feature breakout sessions on topics like “The Anatomy of a Sales Professional,” “Cracking the Customer Code” and “Brand Stewardship.” Sales professionals will also have the opportunity to learn selling tips directly from manufacturers like 3M, Beaulieu of America, Mannington and Dal-Tile in round robin sessions and to attend a training session with the world renowned Disney Institute. The convention will conclude with a special dinner and Awards Gala on the evening of Friday, February 24. “The RSP Convention is an important part of our Five-Year Plan,” explained Evan Hackel, president of Carpet One. “One of our goals is to increase sales professionals’ involvement in Carpet One and provide them with the right tools to be more successful at their jobs. This is the perfect way to start the process. We’ve had a very positive response from our members and I think that the sales professionals will really benefit from their experience.” Carpet One member Denise Fike of Fike Brothers Carpet One is sending both her sales manager and her top-selling sales professional to the RSP Convention. Fike explained, “There is a sense of excitement and professionalism at Carpet One conventions that is always difficult to convey to your staff if they are not actually there. I think the RSP Convention is the perfect opportunity to make my good sales professionals even better. Events like this will really help them get to the next level!” Fike said that she used the RSP Convention as an incentive for her sales professionals, letting them know ahead of time that the top-seller for the year would have the opportunity to accompany the sales manager to Anaheim. Carpet One generated excitement for the RSP Convention this past fall through the EverGuard Sales Contest. Sales professionals had the chance to win one of five all-expenses paid trips to the convention by registering their sales of 3M’s EverGuard Protection Plan, one of the industry’s most extensive stain protection plans. Carpet One’s RSP Convention will be sponsored by 3M, Beaulieu of America, CitiFinancial, Daltile, Kraus, Lauzon, Solutia and Mannington.
