Carpet One Introduces Global Hiring System

Manchester, NH, April 17, 2006--At the recent Carpet One Winter Convention in Anaheim, Carpet One University introduced a new system to help its members find and retain employees. Carpet One's Global Hiring System addresses one of the retail industry's longstanding challenges: how to attract and review qualified job applicants, and then choose the best person for the job. Carpet One University's senior vice president of training and development, Brian Metcalf explained, "We are in a war for talent. Every retailer is hunting for the best talent, and Carpet One members need to be on top of their game in the hiring process. They need the best technology and skills to be successful in this challenge. The Global Hiring System takes a lot of the worry and frustration out of the process. It's the hiring manager many of us always wanted and the interviewer we wished we always were." Carpet One's Global Hiring System functions as a private job board and a career site for the store. Hiring managers can post job listings that link up to popular career sites like Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com. As the prospective employee moves through the screening process, "rapid screening data" is produced and displayed so the hiring manager can objectively compare candidates. The hiring manager can input his own score for a résumé or interview and print assessment reports at any time. The new hiring system also features three assessment tools to facilitate the process: one 15-minute indicator provides an assessment of basic job fit; a second 15-minute indicator assesses honesty, integrity and other work behaviors; and the "Total View" tool, customized specifically for Carpet One, ensures that the applicant is a good fit for the Carpet One culture and job expectations. Many Carpet One members have already used the Global Hiring System. John Shepard, owner of Carpet One of the Gulf Coast in Panama City, FL explained, "The GHS has taken the level of professionalism of my recruiting program to a new level. The assessments have proved to be dead on; the GHS recommends detailed questions focused on identifying and expounding upon the applicants' specific strengths and weaknesses. The web-based method," he continued, "makes advertising for jobs easier than ever. This is the best personnel program that I have ever had the opportunity to use." "We're really excited to be able to offer this tool to our members," said Carpet One president Evan Hackel. "It's just one more thing that sets Carpet One members apart in the industry. I'm confident that the Global Hiring System will give our business owners the hiring edge over their competitors." CCA Global Partners, Carpet One's parent company, will be rolling out a similar Global Hiring System to other CCA divisions in the upcoming year.
